Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate individual, who is motivated to drive environmental sustainability progress in a leading technology company, with +83,000 creative minds and a global footprint. As an environmental impact analyst, you will be instrumental in supporting Emerson’s long-term sustainable product strategy worldwide. You will be responsible for measuring the environmental footprint of our extensive products, solutions and service portfolio. In doing so, you will contribute to steering our offerings to more environmentally sustainable designs, applications and end-use markets.

Responsibilities

  • Quantify the environmental footprint of products, solutions, and services by conducting life-cycle assessments (LCAs), as part of Emerson’s global LCA program.
  • Prepare clear and compelling reports, presentations of analyses, and recommendations.
  • Work with engineering design, procurement, IT, marketing, and sales teams to collect relevant data, validate calculations and interpret the results of the life cycle assessments.
  • Be responsible for data gathering and analysis, industry research, writing reports, preparing presentations, and presenting your findings to business leaders and management. 
  • Work with Emerson’s Corporate Technology and Corporate Environmental Sustainability teams to support the global roll out of life cycle assessments.
  • Liaise with corporate and other business unit teams/regions and track relevant news to get access to best practices and industry insights.

In the longer term, you may need to:

  • Support engineering design teams in incorporating relevant environmental footprint data into their product or solution designs.
  • Support marketing, and business divisions by providing relevant environmental footprint information, which may be requested by suppliers or customers.
  • Provide technical expertise through training on life cycle assessments to the rest of the organization.
     

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • PhD or Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, process or electrical), environmental science, physics, mathematics (or related scientific/technical field).
  • 0-3 years of experience in LCA modelling 
  • Familiarity with LCA databases and standards
  • Must be able to work fluently in English (written and spoken). 
  • A team player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels
  • Experienced and skilled with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Disciplined and with great organisational skills
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills – proven ability to summarize complex material into key findings and implications for our business
