Your Role and Responsibilities

As an iSeries Administrator, you are responsible to provide technical support with high degree of Customer Happiness by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and process compliance. You will perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters.

Responsibilities

  • Adopt the given technology to meet the drift of customer and business requirements
  • Restoration of file/library/object/source member.
  • Primary support for assigned ISV products along with diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis
  • Analyze performance issues while providing technical consultation and inquiries from the other IT technical teams
  • Checking System Operator Messages in QSYSOPR message queue and problem log for SRC code.
  • Identify the actions required to handle error messages and system reference codes.
  • Handling hardware related issues (Tape Library, Hardware management console, disk failure etc) backup issues, distribution queue issues.
  • Creation of AS400 LAPR build using VIOS.
  • Perform system build using iHOSTing. Virtual disk creation, network server description
  • Support for new product installation and evaluation as needed.
  • Support on HA tools such as: Mimix, icluster , OMS/ODS.
  • Act as the technical lead on internal team projects or participate on project teams that impact the z/OS platform.
  • Maintenance activity in the AS400 servers to replace any H/W or upgrade activity.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and tests as scheduled
  • Assume personal responsibility for resolving problems in most effective way possible within SLA reaching root cause and preventing problems
  • Lead daily Operations meetings provided there are no P1 incidents running
  • Aid with identifying problem management trends

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in iSeries System Administration environment with work management, user management, journal management and performance management.
  • Demonstrable skills in OS level encryption and created the iASP’s, Disk Addition on existing ASP’s.
  • Proven experience in IBM I , OS/400 – V6R1, V7R1,V7R2,V7R3 and Hardware Power 7,7+, 8 systems.
  • Demonstrable skills in iBMi native job scheduler and Advanced Job Scheduler,iSeries Navigator, IBMi Access Client Solution.
  • Experience in Backup and Recovery Media Services (BRMS) .
  • Experience required in Mimix High Availability ,Maxava , IBM Power HA for i, Clustering, and iASP, Websphere Application Server WAS on IBM i.
  • Proven experience in providing support for ISV products.
  • Proficient in technologies like P2V, V2V and P2P migrations
